Braves: The market for relievers is heating up

With spring training set to start in about five weeks, the market for all free agents is finally starting to heat up. Yesterday, I reported that suitors for Marcell Ozuna were beginning to line up in both the AL and NL, including the Dodgers and Yankees. Now, it looks like the market for relievers is beginning to do the same, with Liam Hendriks, Pedro Baez, and most recently, Archie Bradley joining new teams.

With Mark Melancon, Darren O’Day, and Shane Greene all currently free agents, this is a market Alex Anthopoulos should be very interested in. However, plenty of viable options are still available. On top of the three names mentioned above, Brad Hand, Tyler Clippard, Alex Colomé, and many other high quality arms remain unsigned. I would be pretty surprised if Anthopoulos didn’t ink at least one of these guys in the next week or so.

As far as price goes, it’s been pretty varied this offseason. Hendriks signed way over his projected value, according to FanGraphs, but Bradley seems like a pretty good value at one year for just $6 million. I would say arms like Melancon and Greene can expect similar deals to Bradley.
