Former MLB third baseman and current co-Host of Talkin’ Baseball Trevor Plouffe is calling his shot with the Braves again:

Trevor has a good track record with the Braves, and I’m sure he has some decent connections around the league. The Braves could use one more starter, especially with injuries striking multiple times last season. Upgrading Drew Smyly with Justin Verlander would immediately improve this Braves roster if he’s healthy.
MLB Trade Rumors also connected Verlander with the Braves when they predicted landing spots for their Top 50 free agents. It makes sense, too. Nobody loves the one-year deal more than the Braves, and Verlander appears to be the perfect candidate to accept a one-year contract from an organization that will be competing for a championship.
Atlanta has done it in each of the last two seasons with their starting rotation. In 2020, they signed Cole Hamels, which worked out miserably. But last season, they brought in Charlie Morton, who was spectacular. I wouldn’t be surprised if they attempted to do something similar with Verlander this offseason.
