ProspectsLive has the Braves taking an Alabama pitcher in their latest 2022 Mock Draft – The MLB Draft is getting closer, and rumors surrounding the Braves are heating up. When you examine Alex Anthopoulos’ strategy in years prior, I wouldn’t be shocked to see the Braves select a college player. Alabama lefty Connor Prielipp fits that mold.

Does the idea work?
I like the idea of Prielipp, but with Cooper Hjerpe going with the next pick, I’d probably prefer the latter. Here’s what Jim Doyle had to say about the selection:
Susac is still on the board here, and that shouldn’t be brushed over. I haven’t heard the Braves attached to the Arizona backstop, but most don’t expect him here at this juncture either. Regardless, it’s mostly college arms with Prielipp, Bennett, Whisenhunt and Hjerpe; all lefties.
Braves taking an Alabama pitcher?
Daniel Susac is also an interesting choice, especially considering how depleted the Braves are at catcher in their system. Susac is a projected top ten pick, so in this scenario, I’d be happy with any of the three guys I mentioned. We’ve seen Anthopoulos and Company crush the draft, so I’m not too concerned with them calling the shots.
