Mike Soroka continues to prove he’s tough as hell in his trek towards being ready for opening day.
Snitker is happy with the progress made by Mike Soroka, who threw a side session today. But he said it will be a few weeks before he determines whether it would be wise to put Soroka on the Opening Day roster.

Before everyone gets excited, I think it’s wise to keep Soroka off of the roster to start the season for a few reasons. First, Achilles injuries are very serious; there is no reason to rush him. Second, placing him on the Injured List to begin the season allows for an extended look at Bryse Wilson, Kyle Wright, Drew Smyly, and Charlie Morton. With the depth that Atlanta has, they can survive without Soroka for a couple of weeks, even in a much improved division. Give the kid a few rehab starts to find a groove before putting him back at Truist Park. Keep progressing Iron Mike; we can’t wait to see you back in action.
