The Braves have wasted no time getting their top draft picks signed to the organization, and the numbers so far have been promising:
The Braves signed 1st rounder Hurston Waldrep to a $2,997,500 deal. Slot value for the 24th pick is $3,270,500.

This is a good time to remind everyone that some teams use the $2,500 signing contingency bonus. Atlanta used that last year and it seems like they are as well this year.
If you see bonus discrepancies of $2,500 specifically that's what's happening. https://t.co/Xgy3OroCJ1

During the Alex Anthopoulos era, the Braves have made signable players a priority. They typically go after college players, and after refilling the lower levels of the minors in last year’s draft with some high school talent, they’re back to their old ways.
I was pretty surprised to see Waldrep sign for an underslot deal, but I’m not mad about it. That will make signing the rest of the guys in this class a lot easier, and the Braves still got a supremely talented player in the first round. That’s a pretty rare combination. I was nervous about this draft, as it was the first one without superstar scout and current Astros GM Dana Brown, but it seems to be business as usual for the Braves.
