According to Robert Murray, the Braves have inked a deal with former Athletics’ utility-man Chad Piner on a minor league deal.

Honestly, Pinder is better described as a super utility player. During his time in Oakland, he logged over 100 games at every position in the outfield, 92 at second, and at least 40 at third base and shortstop. He’ll be able to slot in at practically every position on the diamond in a pinch.
Hopefully, that never comes to fruition, but the guy is capable of providing reliable defense if injuries arise. His bat isn’t anything to write home about, but that’s why he’s bounced around on minor league deals.
In 2022 with the A’s, Pinder posted a .648 OPS thanks to 12 bombs in 111 games. Again, nothing dazzling but solid depth, which we have seen this year to be very crucial. Never scoff at these minor league deals because a string of injuries could strike, and we could see them with the Braves.
