The Braves haven’t had much positive news in recent days, but they did wake up on Wednesday to another top 100 prospect, as Baseball America added Shea Langeliers to their list after Jazz Chisholm graduated from prospect status last night.

Now, according to several other outlets, Langeliers was already well within the top 100 prospects in baseball. Milb had him ranked 73rd coming into 2021, and Baseball Prospectus had him 81st. So far, the former Baylor Bear hasn’t let them down.
Langeliers was drafted 9th overall by the Braves in 2019. Coming out of college, he was viewed as an elite defensive catching prospect and still is. However, his strides at the plate have been noticeable. He skipped High-A ball and headed straight to Mississippi this season and is currently boasting a 1.027 OPS thanks to a .412 OBP and .615 slugging percentage. Through just nine games, Langeliers already has three homers. Hopefully, this isn’t just a hot start because if it is sustainable, a Contreras and Langeliers catching tandem in Atlanta could come to fruition as early as 2022.
