Braves select the contracts of three players, including top prospect

MLB: SEP 06 Diamondbacks at Astros

Today, the Braves announced they have selected the contracts of Drake Baldwin, Hector Neris, and Enyel de los Santos.

This essentially solidifies their place on the Opening Day roster. Top prospect Drake Baldwin will be the club’s starting catcher in Sean Murphy’s absence following a stellar Spring Training.

Hector Neris was a late addition to the Braves Spring Training roster as a non-roster invite, but the Braves clearly place a value on his experience. He has over 107 saves in his career and posted a 1.71 ERA over 71 appearances for the Astros as recently as 2023.

Enyel de los Santos wasn’t on many people’s radar when Spring Training started, but his stuff really set him apart from some of the other non-roster invites that were vying for the final roster spots. Braves general manager Alex Anthopoulos seems to find a diamond in the rough that contributes to the bullpen every offseason, and Enyel de los Santos could be that guy in 2025.
