The Braves’ scouts must have really liked what they saw when they visited San Clemente High School. Not only did they select Kolby Allard 14th overall, they picked his Catcher as well in Lucas Herbert. Though Allard was sidelined, Herbert helped carry his team to a state championship this past season. Like Allard, Herbert is committed to UCLA. Behind the plate, Herbert is a polished defender with a strong arm. He’s also handy with the bat. Herbert broke out his Senior year, hitting .417 with 8 Home Runs and 28 RBI in 120 at bats. Herbert is a well-rounded prospect, and having the familiarity with Allard can benefit them both. The Braves continue to invest in high upside high school prospects in the 2015 Draft.
