The Braves bullpen got some reinforcements today as Chris Martin was activated from the IL. He will be a huge boost to a relief core that was desperate for a right-hander that can handle high-leverage situations, but he’s not the only familiar face back in Atlanta. Sean Newcomb was also added to the active roster after Grant Dayton was placed on the IL with thigh inflammation.
Sean Newcomb will also be back in the Braves' pen tonight. Grant Dayton has been place on the IL with left thigh inflammation.

For a little while, it looked like Newcomb was going to be a staple for the Braves in the late innings. He allowed just one earned run in his first 5.1 innings while striking out 12. He was even touching 99 on the radar gun. However, Newcomb floundered in his last two outings, surrendering five earned runs in just one combined inning, resulting in a demotion back to AAA. Hopefully, he can find his groove again because the Braves certainly need some relief help.
