The Braves have suffered from a litany of injuries early this season, and it all began with Sean Murphy, who strained his oblique on Opening Day against the Phillies. The All-Star catcher immediately hit the 10-day IL, and it’s been a long road back, but a light is finally at the end of the tunnel.
Per MLB.com’s Mark Bowman, Sean Murphy will begin his rehab assignment next week.

As has been the case with this entire process, I imagine the Braves are going to take this rehab assignment slowly as well. Murphy will probably spend around a week or two in Gwinnett before they call him back to the majors. Given how Travis d’Arnaud and Chadwick Tromp have performed in his absence, there’s no reason to rush things.
The Braves offense has been a shell of itself compared to last year despite featuring essentially the exact same faces. The top of the lineup, in particular, has struggled, but they’ve shown some life of late. Getting Sean Murphy back will surely provide a boost, both offensively and defensively.
