Now that it is official that both Kyle Wright and Raisel Iglesias will begin the season on the Injured List, the Braves Opening Day roster is set in stone. Dylan Dodd will join Jared Shuster in the rotation, while Nick Anderson will take Iglesias’ spot in the bullpen.
I have high hopes for Anderson. He could be a critical piece to the Braves relief core, and he’ll have an opportunity to prove that right out of the gate. Anderson has options, but if he performs up to his abilities, I don’t see him getting sent back down.
However, all eyes to begin the season will be on the battle for the final spot in the rotation. Both Shuster and Dodd excelled during Spring Training, but when Wright gets up to speed, one of them will have to go down. They’ll each get a couple of cracks before that happens, and whoever performs the best will win the job.
On the latest episode of SportsTalkATL, we discuss the Braves Opening Day roster and what to expect out of both Shuster and Dodd.
