Major League Baseball just announced their Player of the Week and Player of the Month awards for both leagues, and Ronald Acuña has taken home both for the NL.
#Braves RF Ronald Acuña Jr. was named NL Player of the Week – .474 (9-for-19) with 5 HR, 4 SB, 9 R – and also NL Player of the Month for June after hitting .356 with 9 HR, 22 RBI, 26 R, and 14 SB. pic.twitter.com/HR79CUHQec

I’ve run out of adjectives to describe what Acuña is doing this season. I think it is best described as historic. What he’s accomplished through the first half of the 2023 campaign has never been done before, and it doesn’t appear like he’s slowing down. If anything, Acuña has only looked better lately.
The leading candidate for the NL MVP award hit .356 with nine homers and 14 steals in June, and over the last week, Acuña hit a downright silly .474 with five long balls and four steals. He currently sits at 21 homers and 39 steals as the All-Star break approaches. That puts him on pace to hit 40+ homers and 70+ steals, and I don’t even think 40 homers and 80 steals is out of the realm of possibilities.
