On the first day of March, the worst fears of Braves Country were almost realized, as Ronald Acuña Jr. was removed from today’s lineup with right knee soreness.

The right knee is the same knee that suffered a torn ACL in 2021, which makes this announcement particularly uncomfortable, but Braves beat writer Mark Bowman gave us some clarity on the situation. He participated in batting practice earlier today and was signing autographs. The Braves are simply being extra cautious considering the season does not start for another four weeks, especially with Acuña.

Acuña was just a little sore today. The Braves didn't see any need for him to play back-to-back days this early. Opening Day is still four weeks away. He could be back in the lineup as early as Sunday.

I don’t anticipate anything else coming from the situation. The reigning NL MVP should be back in action by next week as he aims to become the first back-to-back NL MVP winner since Albert Pujols did it in 2008-2009.
