In the second half of their doubleheader against the Mets, the Braves suffered a scare to begin the game. Ronald Acuña Jr. was hit in the back of the shoulder in his first plate appearance, instantly going down in grueling pain.

It was tough to watch, given Acuña’s reaction during the moments after, but I was hopeful — based on where the ball hit — that he might avoid anything serious. Thankfully, the prayers of Braves fans everywhere have been answered, as the team has reported that he left the game with a shoulder contusion.

From the sound of it, Acuña won’t have to miss much time at all, and perhaps it was just one of those things that hurt really bad at first and only resulted in a bruise. If that’s the case, perhaps we could see him as early as the upcoming series against the Marlins.
