Braves fans can finally breathe a sigh of relief because, barring any setbacks, the early MVP frontrunner Ronald Acuña Jr could re-join the team for Friday’s game at Truist Park against the Diamondbacks.
Ronald Acuña Jr. (abdominal strain) has felt significantly better each of the past two days, and hit off a tee today in NYC. The #Braves won't use him tonight, even as a pinch-hitter, but it won't be surprising if he's back in the lineup Friday after off day in schedule Thursday.

This is wonderful news. Not only is he far and away the best hitter in the Braves lineup right now, but Acuña was also the hottest player in baseball before his injury. Already accounting for 1.4 bWAR, Ronald is slashing .419/.486/.887/1.373 with seven home runs, three steals, and 16 RBIs. He leads the league in runs, hits, home runs, RBIs, all four hitting metrics, and OPS+.
Acuna’s patience and refusal to chase has completely transformed his game, as he’s gone from a young star to arguably THE best player in baseball. I don’t think he’s there yet, but if he’s healthy and keeping up that pace, he’ll make the conversation a lot more interesting.
