Watching Ronald Acuña Jr. play last year was concerning. It was evident he was not close to 100%; his numbers all around were way down from his career averages, and he even said on multiple occasions that he wasn’t comfortable following his ACL injury that occurred in the middle of the 2021 season. But as he moves further away from that devastating injury, everyone, including Acuña himself, feels that he will eventually look like the player that was once the cream of the crop in the National League.
At Braves Fest this past Saturday, Acuña said he’s feeling like his 2019 self again.

That’s encouraging, but actions speak much louder than words. Thankfully, Acuña’s actions this winter have been boisterous. He’s been dominant in the Venezuelan Winter League, recording a 1.160 OPS over 10 games, and the swagger that made him one of the most exciting players to watch in the league is 100% back.

I understand why the Braves organization and fans would be worried about Acuña’s play so much in another country. The team can’t afford him sustaining another injury; however, nothing but positive signs have come from his winter ball appearances. He looks like himself again, which will be a nightmare for opposing pitchers.
If you have a little spare change in your back pocket, don’t be afraid to post a little wager on Ronald Acuña winning the 2023 MVP. When he’s right, there isn’t a more talented player in the National League.
