Ron Washington, who has become a gem around Braves Country during the team’s recent run of success, delivered the perfect line when he was asked about the potential opponent the Braves might play in the NLCS.

No lies have been told. As I’ve said several times leading up to the postseason, the best team does not always win in the playoffs. In fact, it often doesn’t happen that way. If it did, the Dodgers would have at least five banners hanging from the last decade. Instead, they have just one.
The Braves certainly weren’t the best team over the regular season. Hell, it took them nearly 110 games to get over .500, but once they did, they never looked back, and they’ve been playing as well as anyone over the last two months.
These kind of quotes from Washington are what make you recognize just how special of a coach he is. Braves Country is well aware of what he’s brought to the organization, particularly the infield, over his tenure in Atlanta. And in 2022, another club hopefully realizes just how fantastic of a manager he still can be. I would hate to lose Washington, but as Jake Gordon wrote earlier this week, it seems to be becoming inevitable, and honestly, it should be celebrated. Nobody in this game is more deserving of a managerial position than Washington, who worked wonders with the Rangers and has now been critical to getting the Braves back to the postseason every year.
