After already adding Drew Smyly this offseason, the 37 year old Morton is joining the rotation.
BREAKING: Charlie Morton has agreed to terms on a one-year, $15 million deal with the Braves. The deal was negotiated by Andrew Lowenthal and BB Abbott of Jet Sports. It’s the largest free agent contract so far this offseason.

Morton didn’t have the prettiest numbers in 2020, posting a 4.74 ERA over 38 IP. However, he’s one year removed from back-to-back All Star games and finishing 3rd in Cy Young voting. Anyone who has watched Morton knows his stuff is nasty, especially his curveball. His 2,886 RPM ranks among the top in baseball.
Morton 2018: 15-3, 167 IP, 3.13 ERA, 201 K
Morton 2019: 16-6, 194.2 IP, 3.05 ERA, 240 K
Morton led the league in 2019 with an incredibly miniscule 0.7 HR/9, and if he has anything left in the tank, watching him and Max Fried spin curveballs will be pure art. The Braves rotation now owns two of the nastiest benders in the league.
