From an optimistic perspective, it appears like the lockout could come to an end soon. The two sides have met every day this week, and even though minimal progress has been made, it only takes one side to make a bold move to really get the ball rolling. The union and owners will meet every day until the February 28th deadline set to get the season started on time, which will hopefully lead to a new CBA before the end of the month.
However, for Braves fans, the days after the lockout ends could be bittersweet. Sure, baseball will be back; however, they also could lose the face of their franchise. Many reports have suggested Freeman will act quickly once the lockout ends, and ESPN’s Buster Olney recently informed us that the belief around the league is that Freeman will be signing elsewhere.
I’m not sure how much weight I put into Olney’s report. The timing of it — just before the lockout appears to be coming to an end — is fishy. However, if that wasn’t enough for Braves fans to worry about, it appears the Mets are among potential suitors for Freeman.

To put it lightly, I would be shocked if Freeman shunned the Braves to go to the Mets. However, crazier things have happened, and we know Steve Cohen is willing to throw money around more than anyone. Perhaps he could offer Freeman a deal that is impossible to turn down, which would be a nightmare for the Braves.
