The Braves have officially released their NLDS roster, and as expected, there are several surprising absences.

The one shocking additions is Daysbel Hernandez. The rookie has only made four appearances and owns a 7.36 ERA, but he does own a 2.19 ERA over 23 minor league appearances this season, and his stuff is filthy, featuring a high-90s fastball and wipeout slider.
The two notable absences are Kyle Wright and Jesse Chavez. I thought Wright had a chance to be a big piece of what the Braves put together for Game 3. Now, it looks like AJ Smith-Shawver or Bryce Elder will get the ball with a short leash.
Jesse Chavez also wasn’t included, but don’t ask me why. The guy owns a 1.56 ERA over 36 appearances this season. He did miss three months with a micro-fracture in his shin, but he didn’t skip a beat upon his return, recording a 1.59 ERA in five appearances. I’m not sure of the reasoning, but I am sure Jesse Chavez has to be tired of being the odd man out. The guy has done nothing but shove in a Braves uniform, but the decision makers never seem to take him seriously.
