The Braves are just a few hours away from taking the field against the Mets in a series that will likely determine their postseason fate. Win it, and October baseball has a great chance of taking place in Atlanta. Lose it, and the season very well could be over.
However, before the game, Brian Snitker announced some more bad news on the injury front. Austin Riley, who is attempting to return from a fractured wrist he suffered six weeks ago, is done for the season. He went in for a CT scan earlier this week, and it revealed the injury simply isn’t healing fast enough for a possible return, even if the Braves make the postseason.
Austin Riley's season is over according to #Braves manager Brian Snitker. Simply was not healing fast enough, CT scan showed yesterday.

This isn’t necessarily shocking news, but there was hope Austin Riley could potentially be available if the Braves were able to advance far enough in the playoffs.
In Riley’s place, Gio Urshela has really played some fantastic baseball of late, both in the field and with the stick. Hopefully, that continues this week, as the Braves 2024 fate hangs in the balance.
