Following the news that the Braves will be starting Sean Newcomb on Saturday; the team place Kevin Gausman on the 10-day Injured List with plantar fasciitis in his right foot.
The #Braves today placed RHP Kevin Gausman on the 10-day injured list with plantar fasciitis in his right foot. Atlanta recalled LHP A.J. Minter from Triple-A Gwinnett.

I’m not sure how legitimate the injury is, but Gausman could no longer be trusted to pitch at the major league level. He has given up 19 runs in his last 8.1 innings pitched. Now that Dallas Keuchel is in the cards; we might have witnessed the last of him in a Braves uniform – unless he can become a reliable relief arm down the road.
In Gausman’s place, the Braves have recalled A.J. Minter. The hard-throwing lefty came into the season expecting to share the closer’s role. He quickly found himself in Gwinnett after an abysmal stretch of 15 appearances. Minter has allowed 12 earned runs in 11 innings for the Braves this year but does have a 2.53 ERA in 9 games for the Stripers. He will take over the southpaw role in the bullpen that Sean Newcomb previously occupied – likely until Dallas Keuchel is ready.
