Finally, a move. Although, it is probably not the one many Braves fans are going to be ecstatic about. Ken Rosenthal of the Athletic reported that Atlanta has reached an agreement with Nick Markakis to return next season.
Deal includes $4M salary for 2019 and $6M club option or $2M buyout for 2020. $6M guarantee. https://t.co/6lUkZNTYLE

As Rosenthal states, Markakis will have a 4 million dollar salary in 2019 with a 6 million dollar club option in 2020 (deal includes a $2 million buyout).
The outfield is the one spot where the Braves had to make a move, and Anthopoulos hinted at a deal coming soon. Markakis hit .297 with 14 homes runs and 93 RBIs while winning a Gold Glove for the Braves last year. However, he struggled in the second half and will be 35 this year. This move is a cost-effective option that allows the Braves to allocate the rest of their funds on the bullpen and starting rotation.
