The Braves won their 14th straight on Wednesday night, defeating the Nationals 8-2 behind Austin Riley‘s two home runs, but that wasn’t all the good news from last night. Before the game, it was confirmed that Ozzie Albies underwent a successful surgery on the fracture in his foot.
Ozzie Albies had what was termed successful surgery to stabilize a fracture in his left foot Wednesday. Dr. Robert Anderson in Green Bay did the procedure. The #Braves second baseman broke the foot while taking a swing in Monday’s game and was placed on the 60-day injured list.

That’s obviously fantastic to hear, and we also finally got an idea of when Albies might return. It will be eight weeks at a minimum; the rest will all depend on how he progresses.
The recovery and rehab time will be at least eight weeks, but there won't be any specific timetable other than that for now, until the #Braves' medical and training staff see how he progresses.

Two months puts Albies back on the field in the middle of August, but I expect the Braves to take things extremely cautiously with him, especially if Orlando Arcia keeps performing well. Albies will also need a few rehab starts in the minors before he returns to Atlanta.
If everything goes perfectly, I could see him on the field around the beginning of September, but the goal should be to get him back to 100% percent in time for the postseason run. The Braves should have no problem righting the ship without him until he’s healthy.
