The Braves announced Monday morning that they have promoted Alex Anthopoulos to the President of Baseball Operations. Previously, he was the Vice President of Baseball Operations as well as the General Manager. Along with the promotion, AA will be sticking around Atlanta for a while longer, as the Braves extended him through 2024. The organization also submitted a vote of confidence in Brian Snitker, who was entering the final year of his contract. He and his staff have been guaranteed at least one more year through the 2021 season.

It hasn’t all been perfect under Anthopoulos and Snitker’s watch. The Braves have still yet to win their first playoff series since 2001. However, coming off their second division title in as many years — nearly eclipsing 100 wins — both of these extensions are well deserved. Anthopoulos has put the organization in a position to compete for championships over the next decade, and there isn’t a player in the clubhouse that would not run through a wall for Snitker. Both of these men have done an exemplary job leading the Braves and will continue to do so for at least a couple of more years.
