BetOnline just released their opening lines for 2020 MLB win totals, and the Braves are finally starting to receive some respect. After being the resident underdog the last two seasons, Atlanta is projected to finish with the most wins out of any NL East team. Vegas has their win total at 91.5 following the signing of Marcell Ozuna, which is the second-most in the National League behind the Dodgers, whose total is set at a whopping 98.5… I guess it pays to play in a weak division like the NL West.
Not far behind the Braves are the defending champions and their NL East rivals – the Washington Nationals. The pesky Nats’ total is set at 90.5, which is still pretty high, considering they had to say goodbye to arguably their best player, Anthony Rendon. But when you have a starting rotation like Washington does, you’re always going to have a chance to win a lot of games, so Vegas still expects them to challenge the Braves for the division.
A little further down on the list is the Mets. There total is set at 86.5 for the year, tied with the Chicago Cubs, and the Phillies are just behind them at 85.5.

Once again, the NL East projects as potentially the best division in baseball. At least three teams should finish over .500, if not four, and multiple will be pushing the 90-win mark. After Vegas has been burned in back-to-back years by the Braves taking the division, it’s nice to see some respect finally. Let’s just hope Atlanta can perform similarly when there are much higher expectations.
