Yesterday was supposed to be a celebration, as the Braves won their 12th straight — the longest win streak in the majors so far this season. However, after the game, the entire focus was on Ozzie Albies, who fractured his foot while trying to run down the first base line. It’s still unclear if he will be able to play again this season, but we do know now he will be out for at least two months.
Moments ago, the Braves placed Albies on the 60-day IL and added veteran utility man Phil Gosselin to the major-league roster.
The #Braves today selected INF Phil Gosselin to the major league roster and placed INF Ozzie Albies on the 60-day injured list with a fractured left foot. Gosselin will wear No. 15.

For now, you have to assume the plan is to start Orlando Arcia at second base until further notice. Gosselin will be nothing more than an emergency infielder in case another injury occurs. Depending on how long Albies will be out, we could see the Braves prioritize a trade for a starting-caliber middle infielder in the near future.
