Earlier in the off-season, the Braves traded for reliever Jay Jackson, and it looked like—at the very least—he would compete for a roster spot during Spring Training. Unfortunately, that won’t be the case, as the Braves placed him on the 60-day IL with a lat strain.
The Atlanta Braves today announced the organization signed RHP Kenley Jansen to a one-year contract worth $16 million. To make room on the 40-man roster, the club placed RHP Jay Jackson on the 60-day injured list with a right lat strain.

There’s a chance Jackson’s injury played a part in the Braves pulling the trigger on Jansen. But either way, the relief core is in an infinitely better position today than it was before the weekend. Hopefully, Jackson can make his way back later in the season and be a part of what should be a stellar bullpen.
