More bad luck for the Braves’ pitching staff as the club announced they recalled Kyle Wright from the alternate site as Drew Smyly heads to the 10-day IL.
The #Braves today recalled RHP Kyle Wright and INF Johan Camargo from the club’s alternate site and placed LHP Drew Smyly on the 10-day IL with left forearm inflammation. Wright will start today’s game in Chicago.

Max Fried, Mike Soroka, and Drew Smyly are now all on the IL, and what was once a strength is being neutralized by injuries. Hopefully, it isn’t that big of a deal, but injuries to arms are never a good thing for pitchers. Atlanta decided to bring Kyle Wright up from the alternate site for the game today, which wasn’t who I’d expect them to.
Wright started five games in Spring Training, tossing 16 innings with a 4.50 ERA. The righty gave up 9 runs on 13 hits in that time but did record 15 strikeouts. I’d expect Bryse Wilson to be the next pitcher to get called up, this time in place of Fried.
