Just before their Opening Day matchup with the New York Mets, the Braves picked up 29-year-old outfielder Scott Schebler. Schebler most recently played for the Reds and has had some decent years in the majors. He hit 30 home runs in 2017 and had 17 more in 2018 while playing in just 107 games. However, 2019 was a year to forget.Â
Schebler hit .123 with just two homers in 30 games last season. Still, he boasts a respectable .760 OPS for his career and adds another left-handed option for the Braves to utilize. If today has shown us anything, after both Tyler Flowers and Travis d’Arnaud did not travel with the team because they showed symptoms of the coronavirus, depth is going to be essential to success. Adding another bat to the 40-man could end up paying substantial dividends down the road.Â
