Ozzie Albies fractured his right big toe last week after he was hit by a pitch. Initially, it sounded like he would miss at least a few weeks, if not over a month, but it’s become clear over the last few days that it may be much shorter than that. As of yesterday, he was already participating in fielding drills, and today, he took another significant step forward by taking batting practice.
#Braves’ Ozzie Albies is progressing quickly from his fractured big toe and has started swinging the bat. Could return as soon as Friday, the day he’s eligible to come off the 10-day IL. If not it’ll be soon after.

Not all of us were created equal, folks. A fractured toe would keep most people on the couch for weeks, but Albies is showing very little signs of the injury just days later.
The Braves second baseman is eligible to come off the IL on Friday. Because it was such a short recovery, I don’t anticipate him needing any rehab starts to get ready. It’s very possible Ozzie Albies rejoins the Braves by the end of the week.
