Following a disappointing series against the Cardinals, the Braves received some wonderful news before their series opener against the Rockies. Ozzie Albies has been cleared to return and will begin his rehab assignment on Thursday, September 1st.

Obviously, this is tremendous news for the Braves. The window for Ozzie Albies to return before the end of the season was closing quickly. Now that he’s back, there’s a great chance that he will return to the major-league club in plenty of time to contribute before the postseason.
Albies wasn’t off to his best start before the injury, but he still had eight home runs over the first 62 games and looked to be turning the corner before his injury. Regardless, the energy he brings to the clubhouse alone will be a welcome sight. I’m not sure how exactly the Braves plan to use him once he’s back, but a lot of it will likely depend on how Vaughn Grissom performs and how Albies looks at the plate.
