Admittedly, I’ve started to feel a little uneasy about Ozzie Albies making a return this season. Entering play tonight, he only had 18 at-bats in Gwinnett with three hits and had barely played in the field at all. However, after tonight, I feel much better.
The Braves All-Star second baseman was electric, collecting five hits in five at-bats, including this walk-off home run.

On top of his stellar performance at the plate, Albies also played all nine innings in the field. He’s scheduled to play nine innings in the field again tomorrow.
Ozzie Albies is scheduled to play nine innings at second base tonight and nine more tomorrow, Brian Snitker said. The Braves will see how he feels after that. Rain has slowed his rehab assignment.

The Braves have taken things cautiously with Albies coming off such a significant injury, but they will likely speed things up as we inch closer to the end of the season. If he turns in another high-quality performance tomorrow and everything checks out as far as his health goes, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him in the next homestand.
That would be a tremendous boost for a Braves team that’s been in a little funk recently, losing three straight games. Vaughn Grissom has filled in valiantly, and I don’t think we’ve seen the last of him, but Ozzie Albies is undoubtedly an upgrade at second base. Hopefully, we will see him back in Atlanta before long.
