In a flurry of transactions, the Braves outrighted Sean Kazmar Jr. to Triple-A, released righty Nate Jones, and Carl Edwards Jr. elected free agency after he was outrighted to Gwinnett.
The #Braves today outrighted INF Sean Kazmar Jr. to Triple-A @GoStripers and released RHP Nate Jones, while RHP Carl Edwards Jr. elected free agency after he was outrighted to the Stripers.

Nate Jones isn’t a surprise, even if his 3.48 ERA through 10.1 innings isn’t horrible. The rest of his numbers were abysmal, striking out just 14% of opposing batters while walking 20% of them. His gaudy 8.71 FIP suggested severe regression was to come if he stayed in Atlanta. Jones was designated for assignment last week and will now be looking for a new home. Kazmar is a career journeyman that will likely continue to bounce back and forth between Atlanta and Gwinnett for depth reasons.
These moves follow the recent signings of Shane Greene, Tanner Roark, and Tyler Flowers. However, those players will likely spend a little time in Gwinnett before appearing in Atlanta. The Braves could be opening up room for Orlando Arcia, who became the first Stripers player to mash three home runs in a game since Austin Riley did it back on Mother’s day in 2018, or Chris Martin may be nearing a return. We will keep you updated here at SportsTalkATL when the corresponding moves are announced.
