The Braves received positive injury news today; Nick Markakis has started throwing and testing that bone he broke in his wrist. Markakis has been out since July 26th, and he seems to be ahead of schedule so far in his rehab progression. It’s going to be so important to have him for this playoff push. While Matt Joyce and Rafael Ortega have been serviceable in his absence, they don’t need to be starting playoff games. Nick was slashing .284/.358/.429 with 22 doubles and 55 RBIs before he was injured. After playing all 162 games last season, his presence has been sorely missed. Hopefully, when he returns he’ll still have some pop in his bat and will play that gold glove defense we all know and love.
In other promising injury news, Francisco Cervelli is available off the bench tonight, and Brian McCann is scheduled to return on Sunday.Â
