After showing some flashes early in the spring, Nate Jones has been taken off of Atlanta’s 40-man roster.
The #Braves today selected the contract of RHP Carl Edwards Jr., optioned RHP Edgar Santana to Triple-A Gwinnett and designated RHP Nate Jones for assignment.

Jones allowed eight hits, six runs (four earned), and ten walks over 10.1 innings for the Braves, and while his 3.48 ERA isn’t too unsightly, his 8.71 FIP and 1.74 WHIP show how bad he was truly playing in Atlanta.
Edgar Santana was demoted to AAA, replaced by the hard-throwing Carl Edwards Jr. Santana gave up two runs, two walks, and four hits over a brief three-inning stretch with the Braves. Edwards Jr. was pretty effective this spring but had struggles with walks. The Braves granted him his release after he didn’t make the roster, but he’s back after not finding a spot on a 26-man roster somewhere else. Edwards will hopefully help Atlanta’s bullpen woes, as their team ERA ranks 24th in the majors.
