It’s not Mark Melancon or Shane Greene, but the Braves signed another relief option to a minor-league pact today in Nate Jones — Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.

With Jones, the Braves add yet another lottery ticket to their bullpen repertoire. The long-time White Sox pitched eight seasons in Chicago, boasting a very respectable 3.12 ERA over 291.1 innings.
Unfortunately, injuries have limited his success of late. He’s only pitched 70.2 innings in the last four seasons combined — 18.2 of which came last season for the Reds as he recorded an unsightly 6.27 ERA. Still, Jones has a live arm that features a sinker that sits in the upper-90s and a slider that can touch 90 at times. If he can keep the ball in the park (he gave up six homers in just 18.2 innings last season), Alex Anthopoulos may have just found his next diamond in the rough that could become a substantial contributor to Atlanta’s bullpen.
