Braves: MLB insider provides telling detail in Max Fried’s free agency

Max Fried Braves

With Juan Soto inking a 15-year contract with the New York Mets, the teams that missed out on him are now turning their attention towards other stars, namely Braves longtime ace Max Fried. Ken Rosenthal recently reported that Fried will be signing in the near future, highlighting three AL East teams that are all battling for his services.

Soon after, Jon Morosi has provided us with another detail surrounding Fried’s free agency, saying the 30-year-old southpaw has at least one seven-year contract on the table. He also added that the Yankees are willing to go seven years as well.

Even before Max Fried became a free agent, most predicted the Braves were not going to be heavily involved in retaining his services. So far, that appears to be the case; there has been no substantial report suggesting otherwise.

The price tags for starting pitchers are astronomically high. The most comparable pitcher to Max Fried on the market was Blake Snell, who signed a five-year, $182 million contract with the Dodgers. If a seven-year deal is on the table for Fried, who is one year younger than Snell, it looks like he could easily fetch $200 million when he decides to sign.
