There’s already been one significant change on the Braves farm, and another one could be on the horizon.

The club’s Single-A affiliate in Rome rebranded from the Stipers to the Emperors, and the Double-A affiliate could undergo an even bigger change.

The Mississippi Braves have played at Trustman Park in Pearl, Mississippi since 2005 but could be on the move after the 2024 season. According to the Columbus Ledger-Inquirer and the Clarion Ledger, the Braves’ AA team is among the candidates to move to Columbus, Georgia.

Diamond Holdings and the city are currently in negotiations to bring a team to the area. The Mississippi Braves are one of several clubs.

Diamond Holdings owns 28 minor league teams. However, the teams mentioned in the story that could move to Georgia are the Mississippi Braves from Pearl; the Rome, Georgia Braves; the Midland, Texas Rockhounds; the San Jose, California Giants; and the Wichita, Kansas, Wind Surge.

The Braves other minor league teams are all in Georgia — Gwinnett, Rome, and Augusta. Moving the Double-A affiliate closer to Atlanta should improve attendance numbers; Mississippi was 29th out of 30 Double-A teams in attendance.
