Earlier in the week, Mike Soroka was brilliant in his first rehab assignment back with the Rome Braves. He struck out eight of the first nine batters he faced and completed four shutout innings. Now, Soroka will look to build on that with the Gwinnett Stripers.
Today, the Braves announced that Soroka’s rehab assignment has been transferred to AAA Gwinnett.
The #Braves today transferred RHP Mike Soroka’s major league rehabilitation assignment to Triple-A Gwinnett.

This entire situation is difficult not to get excited about. I’m aware that expectations should be tempered, and it will still be a little while before he gets an opportunity at the major-league level, but his start tonight arguably has bigger implications than the game today in Atlanta.
Soroka looked as good as he ever has his last time out, and he even mentioned that his sinker is better than it ever has been. That almost sounds impossible, but there’s something about this young man that makes me believer. Everything about him; from his talent, to the way he carries himself, inspires confidence. I can’t wait to see how he handles his latest challenge in less than two hours.
