We can talk about all the little things the Braves could have done to win the NLCS over the Dodgers, but none of that would have mattered had Mike Soroka not torn his Achilles in early August.
Anytime you lose your #1 starter, you’re not supposed to make it to the World Series, or even the NLCS for that matter. Most teams would struggle making it to the playoffs. However, the Braves overcame the odds and nearly conquered the National League. With Soroka in the fold next year, they should be right up their with the Dodgers and Yankees as World Series favorites, and it looks like he could be ready much earlier than expected.

This is pretty shocking. Most Achilles injuries take around a year to fully heal. I thought it was optimistic to expect Soroka back at 100% by the All-Star break, but from the sound of it, he will be pushing for Opening Day.
As O’Brien’s tweet states, the Braves will be extraordinarily cautious, like they always are. However, it looks like Soroka could be back on the mound much sooner than expected.
That should have Braves fans salivating over the start of the 2021 season. When do pitchers and catchers report again?
