There was a growing feeling that Mike Foltynewicz would be ready to join the rotation as early as this weekend in Atlanta. The Braves’ Ace has completed two starts in Gwinnett without any setbacks, but after his last outing was disrupted by a rain delay, the Braves opted to give him one more start in AAA before he makes his return. This according to David O’Brien of the Athletic.
That start will take place on Monday. Providing everything goes well; he will be in Atlanta by the end of next week. Foltynewicz appears more than ready to go, but the Braves are not necessarily in a rush to get him back. Their starting rotation has been fantastic since the opening series against the Phillies. When Folty does return, some intriguing decisions regarding the other pitchers will have to be made. Considering how cautious the Braves have been with their arms, it makes sense to ease him back to the big leagues and continue to let some of the young guns gain some valuable experience.
