Ozuna will be forced to pay a $1,000 fine as a result of the plea bargain.
The disgruntled outfielder was pulled over past 3 AM at the end of last season and admitted to having a few drinks. He did participate in a field sobriety test but was charged with the DUI after declining a breathalyzer test.
At the time, it felt like the last straw for Ozuna, who was arrested for domestic violence the previous year. It also didn’t help that he wasn’t very helpful for the Braves on the field either.
Despite all of that, however, Ozuna remains on the roster, and for the first time since 2020, he’s starting to look like himself again. He was the worst player in baseball over the first month of the season, but something has seemingly clicked since the calendar turned.
Over his last six games, Marcell Ozuna has seven hits, including four home runs. He’s also walked five times, giving him an on-base percentage of .429 and OPS of 1.255. Ozuna has had these brief stretches of success during the last couple of seasons, but they always seem to fizzle out relatively quickly. Hopefully, that’s not the case this time around, or it won’t be long before he finds himself out of the lineup again, especially with Travis d’Arnaud returning from the injured list.
