Following yet another frustrating loss for the Braves to begin the second half of the season, the club announced several roster moves.
The #Braves have appointed RHP Daysbel Hernández as the 27th man for today’s doubleheader. Additionally, Atlanta selected LHP Zach Logue to the major league roster after optioning RHP Allan Winans to Triple-A Gwinnett following Game 1. To make room on the 40-man roster, the club…

For the most part, these moves are pretty inconsequential, especially with the trade deadline looming. A lot of the guys on the current active roster probably won’t even be in the organization by the end of next week.
However, the most notable aspect of these transactions is Michael Harris II being moved to the 60-day IL. We haven’t heard an update on him in a while, and the hope was that a rehab assignment could be right around the corner. Now, we know that’s not the case.
Harris was placed on the 15-day IL on June 15th. He’s spent 39 days on the IL, meaning it will be at least three more weeks before he’s activated, and it could be even longer than that. That’s not the kind of news Braves fans were hoping for after watching their team drop four out of five games to begin the second half of the season, along with losing two more guys to the IL in Max Fried and Ozzie Albies.
The injuries have really begun to take their toll on the Braves. This club is barely recognizable from the one that began the season. Many fans are beginning to feel hopeless, and one would imagine a lot of the players might be starting to question themselves as well.
The trade deadline can’t get here fast enough. Many moves must be made if the Braves want to have any chance in October. If not, there may not even be an October for this club. It’s gotten that bad in Atlanta.
