The Braves have shaken up their roster over the last several days, and they are doing it again ahead of tonight’s game with the Diamondbacks. AJ Smith-Shawver is going back to Gwinnett after spending a day with the big-league club, and Ramon Laureano is finally headed to the 10-day IL with an oblique strain. Coming up, the Braves are welcoming back Dylan Lee after a brief stint in Gwinnett, and outfielder Brian Anderson is returning from the IL.
The #Braves today optioned RHP AJ Smith-Shawver to Triple-A Gwinnett, placed OF Ramón Laureano on the 10-day injured list, backdated to July 9, with a left oblique muscle strain, recalled LHP Dylan Lee to Atlanta and returned OF Brian Anderson from his rehabilitation assignment…

Clearly, AJ Smith-Shawver was called up yesterday in case of emergency following an 11-inning contest that burnt most of the Braves bullpen. He’ll head back to Gwinnett, where he’ll continue his rehab assignments as a starting pitcher and will hopefully be ready to appear again for the Braves soon after the All-Star break.
Ramon Laureano should have been on the IL weeks ago. He tweaked a muscle and hasn’t appeared in a game for the Braves since June 26th, forcing the Braves to play down a man. Now, Brian Anderson will take his place and offer some more outfield depth, while Dylan Lee will provide another consistent presence out of the bullpen.
