Braves make corresponding roster move ahead of Cardinals series

During the All-Star break, the Braves made a roster move, outrighting Brian Anderson to Triple-A Gwinnett, leaving many to speculate what the corresponding move would be. Today, the club announced they’ve reinstated outfielder Ramon Leaureano from the injured list.

Ideally, it would’ve been Michael Harris II returning from the IL, but Laureano is still an upgrade over what the Braves had in the outfield.

In 11 games and 25 plate appearances for Atlanta, Laureano is hitting .257 with one home run and five doubles, good for a .714 OPS. He’s hitting 5% below league average (95 wRC+), but that’s still a stark difference from what the Braves were trotting out in the outfield in the wake of the injuries to Ronald Acuna Jr. and Michael Harris II.

The hope is probably that Eddie Rosario, Adam Duvall, and Ramon Laureano can give the Braves enough over the next couple of weeks before the trade deadline. Those guys are ideally suited for bench and platoon roles and will soon be relegated to them when Alex Anthopoulos brings in one or more outfielders at the deadline.
