In order to make room on their 40-man roster, the Braves designated Chadwick Tromp for assignment. Given the catching depth in the organization, that’s not so surprising. We will see if Tromp makes it through waivers and decides to stick around or elects free agency.
On top of that, the Braves also optioned Tucker Davidson and William Contreras to AAA Gwinnett.
Additionally, the Braves optioned LHP Tucker Davidson and C William Contreras to Triple-A Gwinnett following last night’s game.

This opens up an extra spot on the 28-man roster, which will be filled before tonight’s game. I’m absolutely positive we will see Davidson back up in Atlanta sooner rather than later, but Contreras is a different story. I didn’t mind the Braves selecting him for the Opening Day roster, but that’s because I thought they were going to use him more than they did. If he’s only going to appear every few days, Contreras is much better served playing every day in Gwinnett. We could see him in Atlanta later, but I expect him to stay down for a while.
