The Braves made several roster moves ahead of their series with the San Diego Padres. Most notably, they optioned A.J. Minter to Gwinnett right after the game.

Minter’s ERA is now 4.86 for the season, and he’s allowed 18 runs in 15.1 innings at home. His struggles are one of the biggest reasons why the Braves bullpen has been such a disappointment. He was expected to be a critical piece to this team after such a spectacular 2020 season. Minter obviously has the stuff, but it’s also overwhelmingly evident that he’s a bit of a head case. Hopefully, he can gain some confidence in Gwinnett and work his way back to Atlanta. If this relief core is going to turn things around, they’ll likely need Minter to return to form.
Additionally, the Braves recalled Kyle Muller and Sean Newcomb. Muller will start tonight’s game, and he’ll likely continue to be apart of the rotation for the foreseeable future. In a corresponding move, Ender Inciarte has been placed on the IL.
