The Braves season hasn’t even begun, and we received devastating news regarding the health of reliever Luke Jackson. Atlanta announced MRI results that showed damage to his ulnar collateral ligament, an injury that often results in Tommy John surgery.

The team announced Jackson would explore all options before deciding, but Tommy John surgery is undoubtedly within the realm of possibility. If that were the case, the Braves wouldn’t see Jackson until the 2023 season.
The 30-year-old made 71 appearances, logging 63 2/3 innings, and posted an impressive 1.98 ERA during the regular season. It is certainly a devastating loss, but Alex Anthopoulos invested heavily in the bullpen this offseason, so the group can handle the blow. Kenley Jansen, Will Smith, Collin McHugh, Tyler Matzek, and AJ Minter is still a formidable unit.
